The Team Movie

Day Four

Day Four was the speed finals, we headed down to the outdoor speed wall to hang out for the day. The team went around swapping t-shirts with other teams and talking to some of the competitors making new friends. It was a fun day in the sun, and a great day to finish the comp.

Day Three

Everyone had down to the lead wall to watch Axel in the semi-finals. He was out 7th, and climbed well, everyone one was proud of him. After the Semi's we all went back to the hotel for a little nap (not in mine, Mel and Zoe's room, everyone wanted to hang out here, no nap for me!)

Axel in the Semi's

Back down to the lead wall to watch the finals, which was so cool. Watching to top guns do their thing. The climbing was outstanding, it makes you want to go home and train your hardest and then maybe be we can be up there with them! The finals was a show, and the climbers are the entertainers, and they did entertain. This is how all the big comps are over in Europe, they make them a show so people come and watch, and are happy to pay money to watch the climbers. Value for money!

This would be nice to see in Australia, but it takes time and lots money.

Team Dinner

After the speed climbing on day two we went out for dinner as a team. Had lots of fun eating the best pizza and some people got to taste a snail!

WYC Day 2

Well everyone got to do their second climb today. Everyone said the routes were so cool and had lots of fun. It was a long day, and we are tired. Axel made the semi-final, so we are back at the wall tomorrow to cheer on your Aussie team mate.

WYC Day 1

What a fun day. The team did really well. We had a few ups and downs, but they all did there best. They all have one more climb tomorrow, which I am sure they will do there best again. Its always more relaxing the 2nd climb. I loved how they all got behind each other, who ever was on the wall from Australia the team was cheering for them, it was such great feel.

Valence For Me, Mel and Zoe

We have had our first night in Valence. It took so long to get here. 35 hours we were on plane, buses and trains, but it was fun in some way.

London Airport

We went to the climbing wall today, but was not aloud in. So just have to wait till the big day!

Valence Park (where the speed wall will be, no wall yet!)

The food is so good, I think we are going to come back fat, can't stop eating!

Training Weekend July

The Team had a training weekend on the 11th and 12th. Saturday was a great day with lots of pumped forearms and sore abs.

Sunday was the Climb-A-Thon, there were 11 participants, each climbed 1000 metres in under 6 hours. Overall, on the day, we all climbed 11,632 metres in under 5 hours. Bryson Klein climbed the most with 1500 metres done in the 5 hours. Well done to him and everyone that climbed. It was a fun day and raised lots of money for the team. Thanks to all the belayers and support crew, we couldn't have done it without you!

Climb-A-Thon

Getting to France for the WYC is expensive. To help raise money for the team trip, Sport Climbing Australia is organising a fund-raising Climb-a-thon.

When: Sunday July 12th
Where: SICG
Time: Six hours of climbing, from 9:30am to 3:30pm.
Target: Your goal is to climb 1 vertical kilometre, that's 1000 metres.
(This is about 80-100 climbs at SICG, depending on which walls you're on. You can do the same climb as may times as you like)

Your support will help the team to pay for flights, accommodation, team clothing,
and coaching

This is an open event and anyone can get a sponsorship card and join in and help the team

It's going to be a lot of fun, and great training.

See you there!

Team Training Day The Climbing Centre

The Team had a really good training day last Sunday at The Climbing Centre in Penrith. We were missing a few team members due to out of state, town and being sick but 9 were there ready to crank there hardest. It was a long weekend as they all competed in the last round of The Tour de Corde at SICG on friday night and Saturday morning. So some were on the tired side.

After 4 hours of training they walked out draging the hands along the ground, thats what I like to see as a coach!!

Here are some Photos of the day.
